World number 22 Cristian Garin looks on course for a first title at his native Chile Open in Santiago to add to his four ATP titles on clay so far in his young career. The Chilean is the first seed here and made short work of Alejandro Tabilo in the round of 16 to justify that, with another winnable fixture up next against the world number 171 Juan Pablo Varillas. 25-year-old Varillas came through the qualifiers to reach the quarter-finals here in Santiago, bettering his performance here last season where he lost at the round of 16 stage. The Peruvian is yet to drop a set in two impressive wins over Joao Sousa and the seventh seed Federico Coria on Thursday but this should be a step too far. 24-year-old Garin is a seasoned clay specialist and looks to be the solid favourite for the title here. He can reach the semi-finals in straight sets.
