THE PREDICTION
World number seven Andrey Rublev struggled throughout his round of 16 Barcelona Open match with Albert Ramos-Vinolas on Thursday but managed to overcome the clay specialist in the deciding set. The Russian has not looked himself on court all week in form that has spilled over from the Monte-Carlo Open final last Sunday where Stefanos Tsitsipas outplayed him for a straight-sets win. Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner looked in excellent form in his round of 16 match against Roberto Bautista Agut and after a tight first set tiebreak with the ninth seed, the Italian powered through to take it in two. Sinner and Rublev were due to play out a vastly interesting match at last season’s Vienna Open before the teenager was forced to retire early in the first set but both players are up to their career-high rankings now and this is a must-watch on Friday with more questions than answers. At the peak of their respective powers, 23-year-old Rublev would possibly edge this on experience but on current form and based on how they played on Thursday take 19-year-old Sinner to reach the semi-finals here.
