THE PREDICTION
Pablo Andujar is yet to drop a set at the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires and took out a tough opponent in Italy’s Gianluca Mager, who enjoyed the best run of his career to date on the South American clay swing last season. The sixth seed will be wary of any player with the surname Cerundolo right now, as Juan Manuel won the Cordoba Open last week on tour debut and his elder brother Francisco faces him here in this quarter-final having beaten Benoit Paire over three sets. 22-year-old Francisco Cerundolo will be feeding off his brother’s success last week and frustrated Paire into some poor scenes on the Frenchman’s part, but coming back from a set down against the third seed is mightily impressive. 35-year-old Andujar is a seasoned clay-court veteran, though, with four ATP titles to his name all on this surface. Where Albert Ramos-Vinolas was naïve last week against Juan Manuel Cerundolo, Andujar should be ready in this quarter-final. There is the fleeting sense of an upset about this match but the most realistic outcome is a three-set victory for world number 57 Andujar.
