THE PREDICTION
World number 21 Karen Khachanov looks to have his game back in order after a rough patch over the last few months, reaching the quarter-finals here in Rotterdam via two strong straight-sets wins over Stan Wawrinka and Cameron Norrie. The 24-year-old is an exceptional baseline battler, indoors especially, where he has won three of his four ATP titles at the Marseille Open, Montpellier Open and Paris Masters back in 2018 but he has never yet beaten Stefanos Tsitsipas. The World number five was exceptional in a high-quality match against Hubert Hurkacz in the round of 16 and leads his next opponent Khachanov 2-0 in their head-to-head record with two wins at the Shanghai Masters in 2017 and 2018. Whilst both players have come on leaps and bounds, the Greek looked in excellent condition over a tough three set encounter with Poland’s Hurkacz and in that head-space it takes the very best to beat him. With so many seeds falling in Rotterdam, it looks to be between Andrey Rublev and Tsitsipas for the title here and the 22-year-old should be able to beat Khachanov in straight sets for the third time in a row. Add at least one tiebreak in this match between two of the fittest, toughest players on tour.
