Taylor Townsend vs Diana Shnaider prediction

Taylor Townsend produced one of the most dominant performances of the second-round, destroying Australian wildcard Taylah Preston 6-1 6-1. The American was virtually untouchable on serve, winning all 23 points behind her first serve and dropping only four service points throughout the entire match. Townsend also converted five of eight break points and won seven of eight points at the net.

Diana Shnaider also came through in straight sets, beating former world number one Karolina Pliskova. Shnaider breezed through the first set but was tested in the second, eventually claiming a 6-1 7-6 (4) victory. The 15th seed had opened the tournament by comfortably beating Daria Snigur 6-0 6-4. She also arrived in New York following a productive North American swing that included a Washington Open semi-final and Toronto quarter-final.

This will be a tough assignment for Shnaider, with Townsend having lost just four first serve points across her opening two matches of the tournament.
