Taylor Fritz vs Nishesh Basavareddy prediction

Taylor Fritz made his return to the tour at the Geneva Open following two months away last week. Fritz decided to skip the majority of the clay court season in order to rest and rehabilitate following a knee injury that has affected his season up to this point. Fritz was below par in his first-round match, losing to Alexei Popyrin in straight sets. The American has only advanced to the round-of-16 in Paris on one occasion, while he lost in the first-round last year.

He begins his campaign against Nishesh Basavareddy, who was awarded a wildcard. He was able to qualify in Geneva but then lost in the first-round to Jaume Munar. He does have a Challenger title on clay this season, winning in Savannah.

Fritz is undercooked heading into this major, and he knows his game is not best suited to clay. However, Basavareddy is unlikely to trouble him too much, and this is a presentable opportunity to advance to the second-round.

Taylor Fritz vs Nishesh Basavareddy tip: Under 38.5 games
