Taylor Fritz vs Alexei Popyrin prediction

Alexei Popyrin notched his third win his last four outings to suggest he may finally be coming out of a torrid spell of results.

The Aussie has tumbled down the rankings but five of his six tour-level victories in 2026 have come recently on the clay and he dug out a 7-6 6-7 6-4 success against qualifier Clement Tabur to make a decent start in Geneva.

Up next is something of a free hit versus top seed Taylor Fritz as few will expect Popyrin to have the consistency to pull off the shock.

However, Fritz will be featuring for just the first time on clay this year with his most recent outing in Miami in March.

The world number eight could be a tad undercooked and is perhaps not match-ready on this surface. Throw in Popyrin’s recent improvement and it isn’t necessarily the forgone conclusion many may have seen it as a few weeks ago.

This is their third meeting and while it stands at 1-1, Alexei did win the most recent tussle at the Australian Open in 2023. That was a five-setter and there’s scope to back this going three if you aren’t that comfortable with the risk of the shock.

Taylor Fritz vs Alexei Popyrin tip: Over 2.5 sets
