Tallon Griekspoor vs Lorenzo Musetti prediction
Lorenzo Musetti gave the clearest indication he has shaken off the rust from his injury lay-off with a solid win over Hubert Hurkacz.
The Italian was always going to have to neutralise the Pole’s hefty serve and did an excellent job on his own delivery to bag a 6-4 7-6 success.
The sixth seed will now need to see off another big-hitter in the third round when he tackles Tallon Grieskpoor for a second time on tour.
The Dutchman cruised to a 6-3 6-4 win over Damir Dzumhur and did prevail 3-6 7-6 7-6 at the expense of Musetti in Rotterdam two years ago.
Grieki also won in Australian Open qualifying back in 2020, but this will be a maiden clash on clay.
The fast conditions may still suit Tallon and his serve/plus-one combo, so don’t rule out a breaker and a possible third set, but we are going to pick Musetti to get it done as an outright winner.
Having said that, if you fancy a bit of a risk for greater reward, Griekspoor has a good shout.
