Sydney Sixers came out the wrong end of the opening match in this season’s BBL away at Perth Scorchers, a tough assignment for any team. They’ll be looking forward to playing in front of their own fans for the first time here and are no doubt determined to get back to winning ways at the first time of asking. Despite losing in Perth, there is cause for optimism amid the Sixers squad. Jack Edwards impressed batting down at number six and when the top order starts to deliver runs, it’s going to prove a formidable batting line-up.

Adelaide Strikers endured an awful last season, finishing rock bottom of the table having lost seven of their ten league stage games. You can’t help but feel that they are once again very much dependant on captain Matt Short to deliver runs with the bat. New signing Chris Lynn will be key at the top, but Travis Head and Alex Carey are both on Ashes duty.

When assessing both teams, Sydney Sixers looks the stronger one right now and unless a player like Lynn or Short have a night out, the expectation is that the hosts will come away with the two points.
