India made mincemeat of the West Indies’ bowling arsenal in the first T20i, chasing down 172 with well over five overs remaining. Captain Shreyas Iyer led by example, smashing an unbeaten 102 from 43 balls. He and Ishan Kishan put on an unbroken 137 for the third wicket and West Indies could not penetrate them. They’ll need to find more cutting edge with the ball to have a chance of winning in the next match.
However, West Indies shouldn’t be ruled out entirely. Their batting fell flat aside from two half-centuries in game one, but you would expect the vast majority of those who failed last time out to bounce back, especially on what should be another friendly batting pitch.
