Afghanistan don’t play test cricket often, which enhances the importance of this match. Their last red ball fixture saw them defeated heavily by India, but it should be a lot closer here. It remains to be seen as to the impact of Rahmat Shah as captain but his batting needs to be strong, especially when considering that Afghanistan have had their struggles with the bat in the long format.
Bangladesh should adapt to conditions quickly and whilst there are a number of players in the squad who aren’t in the best of form, they have plenty of experience to call upon and you would expect runs to be made in very hot conditions that will make bowling extremely tough. Afghanistan are still finding their way in test cricket, whilst Bangladesh have proven themselves abroad recently, who can forget that famous victory over Australia back in August.
