Storm Hunter vs Katerina Siniakova prediction
Storm Hunter failed to make it out of US Open qualifying, losing in the first stage to Maddison Inglis. She sustained a rib injury in late June which forced her to miss Wimbledon. This was a blow for Hunter, who has been attempting to make a return to the sport following a serious Achilles injury sustained in the spring of last year. She is now outside the top 600 in the world rankings.
Her opponent in the first-round will be Katerina Siniakova. Siniakova was dumped out in the first-round of the US Open to Hailey Baptiste. This would have been a disappointment for the Czech after her first singles title of the season in Warsaw earlier last month. Nevertheless, she did make the final in the doubles but was on the losing side, despite being the top seed alongside Taylor Townsend.
It has been very stop-start for Hunter since her return from injury and Siniakova is the heavy favourite to come out on top here.
