After the originally schedule fixture was postponed, St. Pauli and RB Leipzig try again here on a Tuesday night.

Kick-off date/time:

St. Pauli preview: Unable to break through

St. Pauli were left frustrated last Friday night as they were unable to find a way past newly promoted Hamburg, drawing 0-0 at the Millerntor to leaves themselves still inside the bottom two and now two points behind Mainz in 16th-place following the latter’s win over Wolfsburg.

Alexander Blessin’s side have now picked up just two points from their last four in the Bundesliga, drawing to Hamburg and Mainz whilst losing against both Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg. They’ve won just three of their 18 Bundesliga fixtures so far this season.

RB Leipzig preview: Professional job

It felt like a must-win game for RB Leipzig last time out away at lowly Heidenheim and a good, professional showing saw them get the job done convincingly, winning by three goals to nil and holding serve with everybody around them also picking up victories. Another three points here would see them climb into the top four.

Whilst Leipzig had to stay patient as Heidenheim defended resolutely, there was no looking back for the visitors once they opened the scoring after 62 minutes. Two more goals followed less than ten minutes later and just like that, the game was iced.

St. Pauli team news: Change at the back

Dzwigala’s suspension means that the hosts will be forced to make a switch in defence, whilst Jackson Irvine is likely to come into midfielder after appearing off the bench at the weekend.

Predicted XI: (3-4-3): Vasilj; Ando, Wahl, Mets; Pyrka, Sands, Irvine, Oppie; Fujita, Kaars, Pereira Lage

Unavailable: Dzwigala (Suspended), Hountondji (Injured), Metcalfe (Injured), Nemeth (Injured), Spari (Injured)

Questionable:

RB Leipzig team news: Unchanged line-up expected

When considering how well they played last time out, it would be a surprise if we saw any changes from RB Leipzig to their starting XI, especially with Bakayoko and Lukeba still out injured.

Predicted XI: (4-3-3): Gulacsi; Baku, Orban, Bitshiabu, Raum; Schlager, Baumgartner, Seiwald; Diomande, Romulo, Nusa

Unavailable: Bakayoko (Injured), Gebel (Injured), Lukeba (Injured), Ouedraogo (Injured)

Questionable:

St. Pauli vs RB Leipzig prediction

For RB Leipzig, it’s about maintaining their defensively stability and composure, then showing cutting edge at the other end of the pitch, especially as their opponents begin to tire during the second half. Like Heidenheim, St. Pauli are another struggling side who cannot seem to threat together a positive result of late and the first goal going Leipzig’s way would probably see the hosts’ heads drop and lead to further success for Ole Werner’s men.

Whilst it’s never easy on the road in the Bundesliga, the smart play would be to back a third league victory in four games for RB Leipzig, although doing so via the draw no bet market for extra security adds a welcome layer of safety to the move.
