Key Stats

  • Six of the last eight international matches between these teams finished level.
  • South Africa have won their last four World Cup qualifying matches.
  • South Africa have lost only two of their last 13 World Cup qualifying matches (W9 D2).
  • Nigeria have lost only one of their last 12 World Cup qualifying matches (W4 D7).

South Africa vs Nigeria Prediction

South Africa haven’t qualified for a FIFA World Cup since 1998, having played at the 2010 tournament as hosts. Bafana Bafana have collected 16 points from their seven Group C matches in qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, sitting five points clear of Benin, and six ahead of the Nigerians.

Nigeria have suffered through four draws with a lot of underwhelming and unconvincing performances despite their stellar and star studded squad. The Super Eagles can close the gap on the South Africans to three points here, but they could also succumb to having to properly battle for a runner up spot and a playoff berth.

Nigeria will make things stubborn, and a point will very much suit Hugo Broos and the South Africans, and a low-scoring encounter therefore appears likely for this one.

South Africa vs Nigeria Tip: Under 2.5 goals
