Sofia Kenin vs Anna Kalinskaya prediction
Sofia Kenin has performed brilliantly in Charleston so far, with three consecutive victories without dropping a set. Her latest win was against last year’s finalist Daria Kasatkina, winning a mammoth second set tiebreak to claim a 6-3 7-6 (7) victory.
She did serve for the match and wasted previous match-point opportunities but eventually came through to reach her first WTA quarter-final on clay since her run to the final at Roland Garros in 2020.
Her next opponent is Anna Kalinskaya, who produced a brilliant display against second seed Madison Keys, saving seven of eight break points on her way to a straight-sets win. That was a first top-ten win for the player since Berlin last year and Kalinskaya seems to be heading into some form after a frustrating and injury-hit beginning of the season.
These two have never played each other before and are coming off the back of impressive wins against pre-tournament favourites, so we predict a close one.
