Sofia Kenin’s poor season reached another low at Indian Wells as she lost in the first-round to Katerina Siniakova. The former Australian Open champion made a storming start but her level dropped as Siniakova came back to win in three sets. She is now on a seven-match losing streak, having last won in the first-round of the Brisbane International, her first match of the season in early January.
She faces Anna Blinkova. The Russian was also on a long run without a win, before her streak ended in the first-round of Indian Wells against Dalma Galfi. She then took the first set against two-time Grand Slam champion Amanda Anisimova in round two, before losing in three. She competed in a 125 event in Austin last week but lost to Renata Zarazua.
