Shuai Zhang vs Sorana Cirstea prediction
Despite a strong run at the Merida Open, where she reached the semi-finals, Shuai Zhang was unable to continue the momentum at Indian Wells as she lost in round one to Dayana Yastremska in straight sets. Aside from her run in Merida, Zhang has been defeated in the first-round or first qualifying stage in five of the six other events that she’s competed in this season.
She faces Sorana Cirstea in Miami. The Romanian, who is set to retire at the end of the season, lost in the second-round of Indian Wells despite going a set up against Linda Noskova. Cirstea has already won a title this season after winning the Transylvania Open in her home country.
Zhang leads the head-to-head 3-1 and has won the last three meetings. She thrashed Cirstea 6-1 6-1 in the second-round of this event four years ago. Nevertheless, the Romanian is performing the better of the two and should be seen as the clear favourite.
