Shakhtar Donetsk have a very different squad due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, and yet they will still believe they can go deep into a UEFA competition. The Ukrainians have managed four victories with five matches as they sit a point behind league leaders Strasbourg at the top of the 36-team table in the UECL.
They now face a Rijeka side that managed to topple Dinamo Zagreb domestically last season but still fell into a lower UEFA competition, behind Dinamo in the UEFA Europa League. Rijeka sit 14th in the league phase table but they are only two points ahead of Kuopion Palloseura, who sit 25th.
Shakhtar Donetsk do not have home advantage but they have remained one of the very strongest teams in this competition and should finish the league phase with a flourish.
