Sevilla have been struggling for the last couple of months in La Liga and the pressure is growing as they take on a very poor Real Oviedo side in Andalusia this weekend.

Sevilla preview: Struggling Sevilla

Following the appointment of Matias Almeyda in the summer, Sevilla had some optimism despite their regression, both on and off the pitch and they did put in an excellent performance against Barcelona but things have taken a turn.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with fellow fallen giants Valencia at Mestalla last weekend. Sevilla have now managed just one win in seven matches in La Liga since that hammering of the Blaugrana.

Oviedo preview: Poor Oviedo

Real Oviedo gained promotion to the top-flight and appeared to have started the campaign steadily before the sacking of Veljko Paunovic, bizarrely, and his replacement, Luis Carrion, remains winless as they struggle towards the bottom end of the table.

The Asturians shared a lacklustre goalless draw with fellow strugglers Real Mallorca at the Carlos Tartiere in their most recent outing, which may well have been their best chance to get all three points in a game.

Sevilla team news: Juanlu and Peque out

Sevilla have some key fresh issues for this one as Juanlu is now sidelined through injury with Peque Fernandez missing through suspension and defender Kike Salas is also a doubt.

Predicted XI (3-5-1-1): Vlachodimos; Cesar Azpilicueta, Gudelj, Castrin; Jose Angel Carmona, Agoume, Sow, Mendy, Oso; Gatito; Adams

Unavailable: Nianzou (Injured), Juanlu (Injured), Isaac Romero (Disciplinary), Vargas (Injured), Januzaj (Injured), Peque (Suspended)

Questionable: Marcao (Injured), Kike Salas (Injured), Suazo (Injured)

Oviedo team news: Couple of suspensions

Oviedo are dealing with a couple of key suspensions for this one as first-choice attacker Fede Vinas is now sidelined alongside club legend Santi Cazorla as they travel to Seville.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Aaron; Nacho Vidal, David Costas, Carmo, Alhassane; Hassan, Dendoncker, Colombatto, Ilyas Chaira; Alberto Reina, Salomon Rondon

Unavailable: Javi Lopez (Injured), Alvaro Lemos (Injured), Santi Cazorla (Suspended), Fede Vinas (Suspended)

Questionable: Ilic (Injured), Domingues (Injured)

Sevilla vs Oviedo prediction

With home advantage, Sevilla will be aiming to rediscover their intensity that they showed earlier this season. There is a lot of criticism now being aimed at the manager, though. Oviedo’s performance level has been improved in recent weeks and they could be a stubborn test but they lack quality and Sevilla should be able to grind out a likely low-scoring victory at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Sevilla vs Oviedo tip: Sevilla to win & under 3.5 goals
