Sebastian Ofner is beginning to find some form as he continues his recovery from an injury which saw him out of action for over five months. He made his first start on the tour in March and his last two events have been encouraging. He came through the qualifiers in Rome and got to the third-round and then did the same in Geneva and made it all the way to the semi-finals, before losing to in-form Hubert Hurkacz.
Jan-Lennard Struff is in dismal form and has registered just one win on clay over the past two months and that only came about due to Botic van de Zandschulp retiring in the first-round of the Madrid Open. He suffered a dismal 6-0 6-2 defeat to Francisco Cerundolo in the first-round of the BMW Open, the event at which he won last year and he is now ranked 87 in the world.
This will be their first encounter on clay though Ofner did win their only match against each other in three sets in Hong Kong last year. Ofner is quietly improving after such a long layoff and should be good value for a win here.
