The Seattle Sounders do begin the weekend sitting tucked inside the top nine and the play-off qualifying spots in the Western Conference of Major League Soccer. They most recently succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at home to Guadalajara in the league phase of the CONCACAF Leagues Cup.
Ahead of this match day, the Vancouver Whitecaps sit just above Los Angeles FC on goal difference at the top-of-the-table in the Western Conference. The Canadians have been in poor form since their return from FIFA World Cup 2026, though.
