Sassuolo preview: Trying to steady themselves

Having suffered through a surprise relegation a couple of years ago, Sassuolo are back in the big time and, with a strong squad that is still captained by UEFA EURO 2020 winner Domenico Berardi, the Neraverdi will be expected to not only survive in Serie A, but be able to kick on and into the middle-of-the-table, having brought in further experience over the summer.

Following their promotion from Serie B, they have taken the unusual decision to stick by the man who got them up, Fabio Grosso. Sassuolo have started their season with a 2-0 loss at home to defending champions Napoli before then suffering a 3-2 defeat in Cremona against fellow newly-promoted Cremonese a couple of weeks ago.

Lazio preview: Sarri back at Lazio

Lazio have once again undergone some surgery and a bit of a rebuild over the summer, and yet it has also symbolised something of a regression with former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri returning to Stadio Olimpico, after a somewhat underwhelming and previously difficult relationship with controversial Lazio owner Claudio Lotito.

Such is the merry-go-round of Serie A management, Lazio have started their campaign in a typically frustrating manner. The visitors were beaten by Cesc Fabregas' impressive Como side on the opening day, but they then managed to hammer a poor Hellas Verona side a week later to at least spark some encouragement.

Sassuolo team news: Couple of doubts

Ahead of the visit of Lazio this weekend, Sassuolo are dealing with a couple of issues as midfielder Kristian Thorstvedt is sidelined alongside forward Laurs Skjellerup.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Muric; Walukiewicz, Idzes, Muharemovic, Doig; Vranckx, Matic, Boloca; Berardi, Pinamonti, Lauriente

Unavailable:

Questionable: Thorstvedt (Injured), Skjellerup (Injured)

Lazio team news: Several doubts

Lazio have several injury doubts for this clash with Sassuolo, as defenders Patric and Adam Marusic are set to be sidelined alongside attackers Manuel Lazzari and Gustav Isaksen.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Provedel; Hysaj, Gila, Provstgaard, Tavares; Guendouzi, Rovella, Dele-Bashiru; Cancellieri, Taty Castellanos, Zaccagni

Unavailable:

Questionable: Patric (Injured), Gigot (Injured), Marusic (Injured), Matias Vecino (Injured), Lazzari (Injured), Isaksen (Injured)

Sassuolo vs Lazio prediction

Lazio will head to Lombardy looking to try and play on the front foot and redevelop their complex patterns of play under Sarri. They face a Sassuolo side that have been haphazard thus far, but to have an abundance of talent going forward, with Berardi as well as Armand Lauriente. Both teams scoring in what could be an entertaining encounter would seem like a good bet for this one.
