THE PREDICTION
Toulouse could not continue their excellent Champions Cup form into the Top 14 as they lost away at in-form Castres last weekend in close, gut-wrenching circumstances. That 26-24 defeat was their third in five Top 14 matches, having also lost away at Lyon and at home to Montpellier in that time and their lead at top has been eaten up by La Rochelle as a result. With just points difference involved before this weekend’s fixtures on 67 apiece, La Rochelle will play earlier on Saturday and could well be six points clear ahead of this crunch match with visiting Racing 92. Racing have not played a match since losing to Bordeaux 24-21 in the European Champions Cup quarter-finals and that is in keeping with their overall away record right now. They have won four of their last seven matches over all competitions but all three defeats came on the road and Toulouse will be eager to bounce back here in a big way. The hosts should be able to cover -7 in victory but it could be a tight affair with so much at stake and so -5 would be a slightly safer, more reasonable target.
