Roberto Bautista Agut is in the main draw of the tournament, despite losing his second qualifying match to Alexander Shevchenko in straight sets. It’s been a tough start to the season for the Spaniard, as he has lost nine of his 14 matches so far. He is yet to make it past the second-round of any tournament he’s competed in, and his record at Monte-Carlo is largely disappointing.
The veteran faces Matteo Berrettini in the first-round. He began his clay court season at the Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakesh last week, losing in the first-round to Ignacio Buse in three close sets. That was his second defeat to Buse this season. Berrettini is beginning to get more matches under his belt after a spell out with injury.
