Roberto Bautista Agut vs Francesco Maestrelli prediction
Roberto Bautista Agut announced last month that the 2026 season would be the last of his career. The Spaniard, who turned 38 in April, has struggled for form over the last few months. He dropped down to compete on the Challenger Tour in Aix-en-Provence last time out, losing to Alejandro Tabilo. He’s also struggled in the earlier Masters events on clay, retiring in his first-round match against Matteo Berrettini in Monte-Carlo, and then losing to Thiago Agustin Tirante in Madrid.
His first-round opponent is Francesco Maestrelli. The Italian was the top seed at a Challenger event in Mauthausen, but he lost in round one to Miguel Damas in straight sets. That continued a really poor run of form for the Italian, who has lost his last seven matches in total. Maestrelli has not picked up a win since the qualifying rounds of Indian Wells.
Bautista Agut is not the player he once was, but Maestrelli will be lacking a lot of confidence at the moment.
