Rio Ave vs Sporting Lisbon prediction

Rio Ave, coached by former Portugal international defensive midfielder Petit, sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table in the Primeira Liga. In fairly typical fashion for the Portuguese top-flight, they have been low-scoring throughout with 33 goals scored in their 30 matches. They were held to a 1-1 draw by Santa Clara in their most recent outing in midweek.

Sporting CP, on the other hand, with Rui Borges at the helm, sit at the top-of-the-table above capital city rivals Benfica on goal difference despite the loss of Ruben Amorim in November. They lost the Taca da Liga to the aforementioned Benfica in the final on penalties in mid-January and they are searching for silverware.

Sporting have a comfortable lead ahead of the second-leg and they are expected to wrap up a victory in a game whereby they manage to shut down a Rio Ave side that struggle for goals.

Rio Ave vs Sporting Lisbon tip: Sporting CP to win & under 3.5 goals
