It has been a really tough 2026 AFL campaign for Richmond as they sit rock-bottom in the ladder ahead of the derby against Melbourne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The prediction

Richmond have lost six out of six in the AFL. Their most recent outing saw them beaten comfortably by North Melbourne, succumbing to a 65-point loss after defeats the GWS Giants, Port Adelaide, Fremantle, Gold Coast and Carlton.

They now face a Melbourne side that, coached by Steven King, got back on the winning track last week with a dramatic two-point defeat of the defending champions the Brisbane Lions, with Melbourne holding off a late comeback from the Lions.

Melbourne have won four of their opening six matches and they will fancy themselves to get a fifth win with a potentially comfortable victory against Richmond at the MCG.
