The prediction
Fremantle produced a sensational comeback in the preliminary final against Sydney Swans last week, eventually winning by 12 points to book just their second ever grand final appearance.
The Dockers trailed by 28 points at one stage, but inspired by Mason Cox, they stormed back and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
However, the final obstacle they must overcome is a Brisbane Lions machine who simply don't know when they are beaten. Chasing a historic threepeat, the Lions survived an onslaught in their own preliminary final with Hawthorn last week, eventually coming though by nine points in a high-scoring, memorable battle at the MCG.
The Melbourne Cricket Ground is once again the venue for this season-ender. Fremantle earned the minor premiers title after topping the ladder, but they are yet to claim the major premiership and it remains to be seen if they can seize their opportunity when it matters most. The Lions, meanwhile, have been here and done if before and that knowhow in the key moments could very well be the separator on Saturday.
