Rebecca Marnino vs Zeynep Sonmez prediction
Rebecca Marino is handed a wildcard for the main draw of the Canadian Open. She last competed in Granby on the ITF circuit, winning two matches before a loss in the quarter-finals. The 35-year-old, who was once ranked inside the top 40 in 2011, is now outside the top 300 in the world.
Marino faces Zeynep Sonmez in the first-round. The Turkish player did play in Memphis last week, losing in the second-round to Elvina Kalieva in three sets. She has advanced to three quarter-finals this season, while she also impressed at the Australian Open right at the start of the year as she reached the third-round. There is room for Sonmez to grow, and she is closing in on the top 50 of the world rankings for the second time in a month.
Sonmez will be the commanding favourite to defeat Marino and reached the second-round in Toronto.
Rebecca Marnino vs Zeynep Sonmez tip: Under 23.5 games
