Yue Yuan vs Dayeon Back prediction
Yue Yuan arrives in Seoul after narrowly missing out on the US Open main draw. The Chinese player beat Hanyu Guo and Julia Avdeeva in straight sets before losing to Mary Stoiana in the final round. Yuan had also come through a match in Cincinnati qualifying after a win over Renata Zarazua, but she then lost to Kayla Day. Although her ranking has slipped to 132 in the world, Yuan has considerably more experience at this level and has previously enjoyed success in Seoul, having advanced to the final in 2023.
Dayeon Back enters her home tournament as a wildcard. The 24-year-old was most recently beaten by Viktoria Morvayova in the opening round of the W50 event in Guiyang. That followed a 6-2 6-1 defeat to Mei Yamaguchi at the W75 in Tianjin. Back is currently ranked 270 in the world and has struggled for results recently, although she has considerable familiarity with this tournament, making her sixth Korea Open main draw appearance.
Yuan possesses the stronger baseline game and has been competing consistently against significantly higher-ranked opposition.
