Real Sociedad preview: Steady La Real

Real Sociedad come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 loss to Basque rivals Deportivo Alaves at the Mendizorroza in Vitoria-Gasteiz last weekend due to a first-half stoppage-time penalty scored by Lucas Boye.

That defeat has pegged them back from an improved run of form in the last couple of months through the autumn but they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the bottom-half of the table in La Liga.

Girona preview: Struggling Catalans

Michel has been outspoken at his displeasure at the running of things for Girona and the Catalans sit firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places after 15 games with just two wins but performances have improved as the season has gone on.

Girona come into this one on the back of a 3-0 loss to Elche at the Manuel Martinez Valero in the Community of Valencia with a strike from German Valera as well as a second-half brace scored by former Valencia striker Rafa Mir.

Girona team news: Several injuries

Girona are dealing with several injuries for this one as they make the trip to San Sebastian as attackers such as Portu, Cristhian Stuani and Abel Ruiz are sidelined alongside experienced centre-back David Lopez.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Paulo Gazzaniga; Alejandro Frances, Reis, Blind, Alex Moreno; Yaser Asprilla, Witsel, Ivan Martin; Tsygankov, Vanat, Bryan Gil

Real Sociedad vs Girona prediction

Girona have been a lot better since a disastrous start to the season with Michel relieved when the summer transfer window finally came to an end. They have begun to look a little more fluent with Yaser Asprilla playing in an advanced midfield role. Real Sociedad have also been a bit better to watch going forward with a lot of options themselves in the final third and so both teams scoring would appear a good bet for this one.

Real Sociedad vs Girona tip: Both teams to score
