Rapid Vienna did well to reach the quarter-finals of the UECL last season. They have struggled badly this time around, though, with no points collected from their opening four matches in the league phase as they sit rock-bottom in the 36-team table.
They now face an Omonia Nicosia side that are seeking to emulate the recent success of other Cypriot clubs in UEFA competition. They got themselves a first win in Europe a couple of weeks ago with a 2-0 defeat of Ukrainian champions Dynamo Kyiv.
This match could burst into life in Vienna with Rapid needing to take advantage of being at home but Omonia knowing that they are poor and can be exploited in defence.
