Rafael Jodar vs Luciano Darderi prediction

Rafael Jodar continued his brilliant clay court season as he got past Learner Tien in straight sets to reach a second successive Masters 1000 quarter-final. The Spaniard made a fast start and maintained his level in the second set to win 6-1 6-4. Jodar, who won his first ATP tour title in Marrakesh last month, now has a 15-2 win-loss record on clay during this campaign.

His next opponent is Luciano Darderi as he dramatically saved four match points and came from a set and a break down to beat Alexander Zverev. Darderi looked down and out as he lost the first set emphatically, with Zverev then serving for the match at 5-4 in the second. However, the Italian broke back and then saved match points in a dramatic tiebreak before levelling the encounter. He raced clear in the third to win 1-6 7-6 (10) 6-0. This was his first win over a top 10 opponent and he is now into the last eight of a Masters event for the first time in his career.

Darderi will have the support of the home crowd once more and should be able to test Jodar, but the teenager’s incredible consistency over the past month has to be acknowledged.
