Key stats

  • This is the first UEFA competition match between Porto and Nice.
  • Porto have lost only two of their last 13 UEFA competition matches against French teams (W8 D3).
  • Porto have won six of their last seven UEFA competition group/league matches against French teams (L1).
  • Porto have lost only one of their last nine UEFA competition matches at home (W6 D2).
  • Nice’s only previous UEFA competition meetings with Portuguese opposition came earlier this season against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round, where they lost 2-0 at home in the first leg and by the same score in Lisbon in the second.
  • Nice are winless in their last 16 UEFA competition matches (D4 L12), a run stretching back to their 3-1 home victory over Sheriff Tiraspol in the UEFA Conference League round of 16 in March 2023. They have lost each of the last six.
  • Nice have lost their last seven UEFA competition matches away from home.

Porto vs Nice prediction

Following the appointment of Francesco Farioli, formerly of Nice, Porto are top-of-the-table once again in Portugal and most recently hammered Sintrense by four goals to nil in the fourth round of the Taca de Portugal. They have collected seven points from their opening four matches in the league phase of the UEFA Europa League.

They face a Nice side that were most recently annihilated by five goals to one against Olympique de Marseille in the Derby de la Medeterranee. The southerners have been reasonably impressive, against the neglect of ownership group INEOS, but they are in poor form and do have a generally limited squad.

It is a Francesco Farioli derby and there is a feeling that Nice will depart northern Portugal feeling a real sense of regret about the fact that Farioli is no longer at the Allianz Riviera.

Porto vs Nice tip: Porto to win & under 3.5 goals
