There is a gap of 21 years between the pair in terms of age, and it was the 20-year-old Marcinko that dominated the encounter, recovering from being broken in the opening game of the match to win 6-2 6-4. She is now one win away from her first quarter-final of the season.
She takes on Yelyzaveta Kotliar in the round-of-16. The 19-year-old came from a set down to beat Francesca Jones in her first-round match.
