Paula Badosa finally makes her bow on clay this season after struggles with injury curtailed her involvement in earlier events. She was due to start her campaign in Madrid against Veronika Kudermetova but withdrew and did the same before her match with Naomi Osaka in Rome.
The Spaniard’s first match in two months will be against Marie Bouzkova. Bouzkova qualified as a lucky loser but easily defeated Alize Cornet 6-2 6-1 in the first-round, breaking her opponent’s serve on six different occasions with a 100% break point conversion.
