Paula Badosa vs Aliaksandra Sasnovich prediction
A torrid time with injuries has seen Paula Badosa drop to just inside the top 100 of the world rankings. Having made the semi-finals the year before, Badosa lost in the second-round of the Australian Open and suffered early exits in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Indian Wells. She dropped down to compete in the 125 event in Austin last week and managed to pick up three wins in a row. However, she was unable to make the final after a three set defeat to Bianca Andreescu.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich is her first-round opponent. She qualified for the tournament after wins over Ayla Aksu and Renata Zarazua without dropping a set. Her best result of the season was a third-round appearance in Brisbane right at the start of the year.
Sasnovich leads the overall head-to-head 2-1 and defeated Badosa in the first-round of the Abu Dhabi Open last month. Nevertheless, the former world number two will be slightly more confident after a recent string of wins and is still a fine player when fit.
