Parma preview: Defensive losses
Parma had one of the best defences in Serie A last season but they have been dealt a couple of blows over the summer with the sale of goalkeeper Zion Suzuki to Aston Villa and defender Alessandro Circati to Benfica.
Carlos Cuesta’s side started this season with a slender 1-0 defeat at home to Cagliari before a 2-0 defeat in Turin against Juventus. That was then followed by a loss to Serie B outfit Cremonese in the Coppa Italia in midweek.
Monza preview: Back in Serie A
Following their promotion back to the top-flight last season, Monza will also be expected to be involved in a relegation battle this year and it has been a similarly tough start with two defeats from two matches.
They have shown promise, though, as shown in a 1-0 defeat of Torino in the cup the other day. They were beaten 3-2 by a steady Udinese side last week after suffering a 4-1 loss to defending champions Internazionale at San Siro in their opener.
Parma team news: Midfield injuries
Parma have issues in the middle of the park as former Juventus midfielder Hans Nicolussi Caviglia is a confirmed absentee with Adrian Bernabe also a doubt.

Gustavo Varela has scored a couple of goals already this season for Monza but he is now a doubt due to a thigh injury with Matteo Pessina remaining a confirmed absentee.

Parma vs Monza prediction
Unlike the five other teams to have failed to earn a point yet, Monza have been competitive in the final third, scoring three goals in two games and also moving into the round of 16 in the Coppa Italia. Parma were reliant on a tight defence last year due to a lack of quality in attack themselves – and the loss of key men will now be a major concern. Siding with the visitors may well be a very good value bet for this one in Northern Italy.
