Paris FC have enjoyed a reasonable start to life in Ligue 1 as they now take on a strong Strasbourg side that are looking for UEFA Champions League qualification this season.

Paris preview: Steady Parisiens

Big spending Paris, who gained promotion to the top-flight last season, are ambitious this year as one of the wealthiest clubs in the world, and they will want to eventually be challenging city rivals Paris Saint-Germain at the top-of-the-table in Ligue 1.

After back-to-back losses to start their campaign, Paris now head into this one on the back of back-to-back victories, most recently defeating Stade Brest by two goals to one at Stade Francis-Le Ble last weekend.

Strasbourg preview: Strong Strasbourg

Former Hull City boss Liam Rosenior has done an excellent job as Strasbourg boss and the BlueCo owned Alsace club have spent heavily once again this summer with the intention being to push for a top four finish and UEFA Champions League football.

They have suffered just one defeat in their opening six matches across all competitions so far this season and they come into this one on the back of a 1-0 defeat of Le Havre, courtesy of another late winner scored by attacker Joaquin Panichelli.

Paris team news: Otavio suspended

New signing Ham Traore is an injury doubt alongside key attackers Pierre-Yves Hamel and Jonathan Ikone. Otavio, formerly of Porto, is missing through suspension after being sent off last weekend.

Predicted XI (4-1-4-1): Nkambadio; Chergui, Mbow, Kolodziejczak, De Smet; Lees-Melou; Kebbal, Lopez, Marchetti, Simon; Geubbels

Unavailable: Otavio (Suspended)

Questionable: Traore (Injured), Hamel (Injured), Ikone (Injured)

Strasbourg team news: Several issues

It is a good job that Strasbourg have such a big squad because they have lots of availability issues for this one, with suspensions also an issue, such as to Lucas Hosgberg and Rabby Nzingoula.

Predicted XI (3-1-4-2): Penders; Sarr, Coulibaly, Doukoure; Luis; Diego Moreira, Amougou, Barco, Chilwell; Panichelli, Lemarechal

Unavailable: Hogsberg (Suspended), Sow (Injured), Nzingoula (Injured), Nanasi (Injured), Emegha (Injured)

Questionable: Omobamidele (Injured), Doue (Injured), Sylla (Injured)

Paris vs Strasbourg prediction

Strasbourg winning 1-0, as was the case last weekend, will become a slight concern for Rosenior, with a feeling that the visitors are only able to ever edge past teams as a result of stifling and overly cautious possession-dominant style of football. Paris will seek to sit back and themselves play on the counter-attack, and so this may not necessarily be much of a thriller for the neutral.

Paris vs Strasbourg tip: Under 3.5 goals
