Oxford vs Sunderland prediction

Ever since the controversial sacking of Des Buckingham and subsequent appointment of former Millwall boss Gary Rowett, Oxford United have improved defensively as the U’s battle for survival in the second-tier. They earned themselves a pivotal point against Cardiff City in south Wales on Easter Monday thanks to a screamer of an equaliser from Cameron Brannagan.

They now face a Sunderland side that, coached by former Lorient boss Regis Le Bris, haven’t been able to move from fourth spot for a while and have more or less been preparing for the playoff places for the last month or so. The Black Cats come into this one on the back of three successive defeats, too.

With that loss of focus, being away from home and their poor form, Oxford United will fancy their chances of taking advantage of Sunderland and more or less assuring second-tier status.

Oxford vs Sunderland tip: Double chance – Oxford to win or draw
