Nuno Borges vs Alexei Popyrin prediction
Nuno Borges made the third-round at Roland Garros for the first time after defeating two-time finalist Casper Ruud in four sets. The Norwegian seemed to be struggling with an injury during the final two sets, but it was still a fine display from Borges, who won 2-6 6-4 6-1 6-0.
He now takes on Alexei Popyrin. The Australian beat Alejandro Tabilo 7-5 6-3 6-4 in his second-round encounter and has now improved on his previous best finish at the French Open. It was a strong performance from Popyrin who was always in control. He had a decent run in Geneva last time out, making the last eight and he’s been largely untroubled in both of his matches so far this week.
There’s little to separate these two, but we lean towards Popyrin, who also reached the quarter-finals of Monte-Carlo earlier last month, to come out on top and get through to the last 16 of a slam for just the second time.
