Nottingham Forest preview: A European tour

Nottingham Forest have gone through another turbulent and entertaining summer in the Georgios Marinakis era, with Forest being promoted from the UEFA Europa Conference League to the UEFA Europa League as a result of Crystal Palace’s demotion.

Forest’s key man Morgan Gibbs-White appeared set for a move to Tottenham Hotspur, but he has since instead signed a new contract at the City Ground, but they have sold Sweden international winger Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United.

Brentford preview: Uncertainty for Bees

It has been a difficult and tumultuous summer for Brentford with the Bees having seen several players depart, whilst manager Thomas Frank has also left for Tottenham Hotspur with set-piece coach Keith Andrews replacing him in the dugout.

As well as Frank, Brentford have sold goalkeeper Mark Flekken to Bayer Leverkusen, captain Christian Norgaard to Arsenal and key man Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United, with fellow attacker Yoane Wissa having been on strike this summer, too.

Nottingham Forest team news: Not much change

It has been confirmed that Argentinian midfielder Nicolas Dominguez will be out until the autumn but there isn’t expected to be too much change aside from that.

It has been reported that Forest are close to signing both James McAtee and Omari Hutchinson, as well as striker Arnaud Kalimuendo.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Sels; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Williams; Yates, Anderson; Ndoye, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood

Unavailable: Dominguez (Injured)

Brentford team news: Several issues

Keith Andrews has confirmed that Yoane Wissa will not be used at the City Ground, with the striker the subject of interest from Newcastle United.

There have been doubts over the fitness of both Caoimhin Kelleher and Kevin Schade but the former is expected to start in goal for Brentford.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Kelleher; Ajer, Van den Berg, Collins, Henry; Henderson, Milambo; Lewis-Potter, Damsgaard, Carvalho; Thiago

Unavailable: Pinnock (Injured), Janelt (Injured), Maghoma (Injured), Nunes (Injured), Wissa (Disciplinary)

Questionable: Kelleher (Fitness), Schade (Injured)

Nottingham Forest vs Brentford prediction

Nottingham Forest are in the midst of a very busy period in terms of transfer activity, with Evangelos Marinakis now aware of what European competition they will be in. They will be buoyant this weekend with an extremely loud and potentially hostile home crowd behind them. Brentford head to the City Ground with a lot of work to do and Keith Andrews will be under immediate pressure. Forest would appear firm favourites for this one.
