The prediction

Round 3 saw North Melbourne defeat rivals Essendon for the first time in ten years, with forward Zane Duursma kicking three goals as the Kangaroos moved to 2-1 for the season.

Essendon fought back well in the final quarter, but North Melbourne held on for a long-awaited victory by a margin of 12 points at Marvel Stadium.

Carlton once again tailed off in the second half last week as they slumped to a 23-point defeat at the hands of Melbourne at the MCG.

It continued a worrying trend for Michael Voss' side, who has seen his side lose two of their three games so far this season.

Such a tailing off in the latter stages is indicative of a lack of fitness among the squad, and that could potentially be exposed again here. Carlton are considered the favourites among the bookies, but this could be one to consider going against the odds.
