Nishesh Basavareddy vs Daniil Medvedev prediction
Nishesh Basavareddy registered his third victory in a row, including the qualifying stages, as he knocked out defending champion Marin Cilic in the first-round. The 20-year-old lost the first set but did not even face a break point after that, as he won 4-6 6-3 6-4 after two hours and 33 minutes.
He will now face former world number one Daniil Medvedev, with the Russian receiving a bye in the first-round. His desperately disappointing campaign took another turn for the worse last time out as he lost a dramatic first-round match to Benjamin Bonzi at the US Open. His behaviour during the match was called into question and Medvedev will be hoping to make a fresh start as he kicks off his Asian swing.
The Russian is without a title since May 2023 and this ATP 250 provides a very presentable opportunity for the six-time Grand Slam finalist. A focused Medvedev should be getting through this comfortably, despite his poor form.
