Nantes Preview: Canaries’ battle against the drop

Nantes come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Jorge Sampaoli’s Stade Rennais at Roazhon Park in their most recent outing at the weekend. Mostafa Mohamed equalised for Nantes mid-way through the second-half before then conceded again late on.

Under the management of Antoine Kombouare, the Canaries did start the season quite well but have been genuinely woeful since August. They have five games of the season to go to try and push themselves clear of the bottom three and the danger zone.

Paris Saint-Germain Preview: Parisien perfection

In their 29 2024/25 Ligue 1 matches so far this season, Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain have managed 24 victories with five draws as the Parisiens seek an unbeaten season domestically as well as a potential treble for the first time in the club’s history.

PSG, who were crowned champions earlier this month, enjoyed a hard-fought 2-1 defeat of struggling Le Havre at the Parc des Princes at the weekend courtesy of early strikes in either half from Desire Doue and Goncalo Ramos.

Nantes Team News: Coco suspended

Nantes will be without Marcus Coco for this weekend as he is missing through suspension following a red card he received last week. They also have a few injury issues with first-choice goalkeeper Anthony Lopes also a doubt for the hosts.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Carlgren; Amian, Castelletto, Zeze; Thomas, Douglas Augusto, Leroux, Cozza; Abline, Mostafa Mohamed, Simon

Unavailable: Doucoure (Injured), Coco (Suspended), Centonze (Injured), Coquelin (Injured), Mahamoud (Injured)

Questionable: Lopes (Injured)

Paris Saint-Germain Team News: Couple of issues

Ahead of the trip to Nantes this midweek, Paris Saint-Germain will remain without Ecuador international defender Willian Pacho due to illness, whilst key attacker Ousmane Dembele is also sidelined for the visitors.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Safonov; Beraldo, Hernandez, Zaire-Emery; Hakimi, Lee, Doue, Mayulu; Mbaye, Ramos, Barcola

Unavailable: Willian Pacho (Illness), Dembele (Injured)

Questionable:

Nantes vs Paris Saint-Germain Prediction

Nantes have been inconsistent of late with the hosts’ last ten matches in Ligue 1 consisting of four victories and six defeats. They have the fourth worst defensive record in the French top-flight with 49 goals conceded in their 29 matches. They face a PSG side that are focusing on their UEFA Champions League semi-final against Arsenal next week as well as next month’s Coupe de France final against Stade de Reims. Despite the occasional ability to get themselves a fair few three points, PSG should still win a potentially entertaining encounter.

Nantes vs Paris Saint-Germain Tip: Paris Saint-Germain to win & over 2.5 goals
