RENATO MOICANO VS DREW DOBER LOWDOWN
After Renato Moicano (17-5-1) stepped up on short notice to take an unholy five-round beating from Rafael dos Anjos (2022) up at 160 lbs, we did not think we would see him for a while. However, he returned eight months later to fight Brad Riddell (2022) at UFC 281 and reeled off a perfect performance cinching in his 10th submission in the first round.
Drew Dober (27-12(1)) is also coming off a vintage performance in response to a heavy defeat. He had just knocked out Terrance McKinney (2022), Rafael Alves (2022) and Bobby Green (2022) but received a taste of his own medicine from Matt Frevola (2023). However, he topped up his UFC record to 13-8(1) with a knockout over Ricky Glenn (2023) at UFC Fight Night 229.
RENATO MOICANO VS DREW DOBER PREDICTION
Moicano has finally recovered from injuries and if he has any sense, he will protect that chin and avoid a stand-up battle. Although Dober has been sparked out recently, he excels in brawls welcoming oncoming fire to unleash his own.
He will love nothing more than to exchange leather with Moicano. The Brazilian has slick Muay Thai, but he does not have the power to trade with Dober and we expect him to have a strategy to get the fight to the ground.
He is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and if they spend enough time on the mat, we back him to find a submission. Considering Moicano has been knocked out three times and Dober has been submitted four, a finish is likely.
This could depend on who starts quicker and enforces their game plan. As Dober has been very active and Moicano has been out for 14 months, he should be sharper which will be priceless when they begin to strike.
If the fight goes out the first round and Dober’s takedown defence does not hold up, we will back Moicano, but as the underdog, Dober in the value bet
