Edgar Chairez (10-5(1)) returns to his home patch to settle the score. They first met back in September at UFC Fight Night 227 coming off his debut loss to Tatsuro Taira (2023) at UFC 290. The fight did not get out of the first round after Chairez was originally awarded a submission win however, the referee made a howler, and the fight was overturned to a ‘no contest’.
Daniel Lacerda (11-5(1)) was looking good until he got caught in that guillotine. That said, he has had a great start in all five of his UFC fights but has ended up getting finished in every one. He got TKO’d by Jeff Molina (2021) before getting submitted by Francisco Figueiredo (2022) and then TKO’d again by Victor Altamirano (2022) and CJ Vergara (2023).

We hope Lacerda has fully recovered after medical issues forced him out of the originally scheduled rematch at UFC Fight Night 230. The change of location can only help Chairez.
Not only will he have the whole crowd behind him, but up at elevation in Mexico City will make Lacerda less of a threat as the fight goes on. The Brazilian is lethal in the first round but empties the tank after that. So, that threat will not last as long and Chairez just has to weather the early storm.
He is a hefty favourite, and he should have the nous to avoid the gunfire in the first round and pick his shots to break Lacerda down. The Brazilian holds all the value, but the smart pick is a Chairez via finish with a submission more likely as they both begin to tire.
