CORTNEY CASEY VS LIANA JOJUA LOWDOWN
Cortney Casey (9-9) will be looking to earn a much-needed win this weekend when she goes head-to-head with Liana Jojua. Casey is currently riding a two-fight losing streak after losing to Gillian Robertson and JJ Aldrich. Since signing with the UFC in 2015, Casey has fought the likes of Joanne Calderwood, Cláudia Gadelha, Felice Herrig, Michelle Waterson, Angela Hill and Cynthia Calvillo. It’s fair to say that the upcoming bout with Jojua is a must-win for Casey.
As for Jojua (8-4), Liana will also be hoping to get back in the win column this weekend at UFC Fight Night 197. Fighting out of Tbilisi, Georgia, Jojua has not fought in over a year and is coming off a loss to Miranda Maverick. Currently, Jojua is 1-2 with the UFC. Therefore, the Georgian born will be desperate to get her second win in the UFC when she faces UFC veteran Cortney Casey.

Six out of Jojua’s eight professional career wins have come via a first-round finish. The Georgian has struggled to take the UFC by storm. Despite defeating Belbiţă, her only UFC win, Jojua still looked unconvincing.
As for Casey, ‘Cast Iron’ will have a significant height and reach advantage over Jojua. On the feet, Casey should do enough to out-point Jojua.
The key to victory for Casey is to use her size to her advantage. Cortney cannot afford to get complacent. If ‘Cast Iron’ presents Jojua with a submission opportunity, then the Georgian will be capable of ending the fight.
