CODY DURDEN VS JP BUYS LOWDOWN
Cody Durden (12-4-1) has had a rough time with the UFC so far. As of right now, Durden has only won one fight with the promotion and that was against Aori Qileng back in November of 2021. Durden is coming off of a submission defeat against Muhammad Mokaev at UFC London back in March.
As for his opponent, JP Buys (9-4) is also yet to get his UFC career underway. After earning a contract to compete in the promotion following a successful stint on the Dana White’s Contender Series, Buys has lost his first two first in the UFC. Last time out, he was unsuccessful against Montel Jackson.
CODY DURDEN VS JP BUYS PREDICTION
Heading into this weekend’s flyweight bout, Durden will just have the edge in the height department. However, both men share the same reach.
At 26 years of age, despite losing twice in his first two UFC fights, Buys is a talented Mixed Martial Artist and has spells in his first two fights. This matchup is a coin flip. Durden has shown in his last fight that when the going gets tough, he will end up gassing out and showing no signs of a comeback. In his last fight, he suffered a very quick defeat to Moakev and showed no sign of what he was capable of. From the off, we suspect Buys will be calculated in his approach and try and tire Durden down before looking for the finish.
However, don’t be surprised if Durden stays calculated and finds a way to frustrate JP on the feet by controlling the distance and outpointing him.
