Mirra Andreeva recorded another win over Marie Bouzkova to make the round-of-16 in Miami. The Russian was 4-2 down in the first set but recovered to edge in front after a tiebreak. She went 2-0 in the second but won the final six games to claim a 7-6 (4) 6-2 win.
Victoria Mboko is her next opponent after the Canadian beat Anastasia Zakharova in straight sets. Mboko made a dominant start and broke late in the second to win 6-1 7-5. This is the third meeting between the pair, after two earlier matches this season. Andreeva comfortably beat Mboko to win the title in Adelaide, but Mboko exacted revenge with a dramatic win in Doha last month, as she saved a match point on her way to winning in three sets.
Mboko may have the psychological edge here, and if she serves well, she will give herself a strong chance of another win over Andreeva.
